"We're just going to get into another layer of detail, where you don't want to go...."

I actually do like detail. And I would like to see (as best I can) how others come to their conclusions. It would be interesting (and helpful in a debating sense) for me to know your definition of what a right is.

"I'm not positive of this, but I don't think cannibalism is illegal in the United States"

I bet it is. Certainly through other laws if not a specific anti-canabalism law. You can't murder, you can't cause great bodily harm (which eating a person will do), etc.

"If, in fact, there is no law prohibiting cannibalism, you would say that you have a right to be a cannibal."

No, I wouldn't.

Like I said earlier. You like the word games. And your canabilism post confirms this imo. As does your avoidance of telling what a right is iyo. Our framers knew what inalienable rights were, and they laid it out in the constitution. One of them is the right to defend yourself and your property with arms. They very reasonably thought that law abiding folks should have the same chance as the criminals who would take what you have through violence.

Why anybody would want just the criminals to have arms is completely beyond my comprehension. The bogus "argument" that they could all be taken away (including the criminal's) is a non starter. And your friend's "argument" that guns are "useless" is just as idiotic.
