I would agree to an increase in the cap, with a doughnut between 100K and 250K, a benefit cut of modest size rolled in over a ten year period, no change in eligibility age and a tax incented private (personal) account outside of the SS systems. Don't need bridge funding.

It is also not a permanent solution. It isn't clear that it would be even a temporary solution.

But it is definitely not a politicaly possible solution. You cannot get a benefit cut through Congress when the liberals are such demogogues on the issue.
