"The economy from 1970 to the beginning of the 80s wouldn't qualify IMO as a "major unmitigated disaster", but it wasn't very good." It certainly wasn't the Great Depression, but if you were trying to enter the job market at the time you might have been hard pressed to figure out the difference. Especially with "last hired, first fired" policies. If you want to live through something worse, count me out... On what basis do you think it isn't in the cards? Smarter politicians? No sign of that. They are sticking their heads in the sand just like they did before. And we are more exposed than in the late 1960s. I guess this one is just going to have yo kick you in the nuts for you to understand. Start learning how to float your credit cards....
