That reminds me of the time some Air Force (maybe Navy, I don't recall) reserve pilots in Oregon found a bullet hole in the fuselage of their jet after a training flight over the eastern part of the state. As I recall, the bullet was fired from a .30-30 by a sheepherder who didn't appreciate having his herd scattered by the jets. I can't remember who got in more trouble, the sheepherder for firing at them or the pilots who caused the sheep to panic by their ill-advised maneuvers. Once while standing in the fog at the top of a 4500 foot elevation ridge, I heard two jets flying down the canyon BELOW me. I was happy to have my feet on the ground.
