Definitely.

We once had a Hungarian Vizsla who followed my wife home, and I could not even recognize what breed she was because of starvation and her young age, and after she became normal hanging out with us, she would always try to catch smaller animals. She was very sweet and nice with us, but turned into a maniac when spotting animals because of her intensely strong hunting instinct. Surprisingly, she was very content to stay indoors, probably because she never forgot her homeless time in the cold streets.
