It is not an assumption. Not now after two full years. It is reality.

We are two years into the occupation of Iraq, we have the same number of troops out there, staying indefinitely. Our allies are pulling out one by one. There is no government in Iraq. The recent parliamentary session had to be conducted in our little fortress in Baghdad and even so, the venue was rocked by blasts. Oil pipelines are being sabotaged at dozens of places every day.

We are shooting at random in desperation (first the Italian security guard, then a Bulgarian soldier and then an Iraqi general whom we are supposed to be supporting). We have no idea how long we will have to be in Iraq. Probably the rest of this decade and beyond.

And you are saying that these are "assumptions" that are "way off base"?! With enough folks like you, it is no wonder taht a moron is the President of this country.

Nuff sed!
