I am amazed you could have written a document that prevented someone from getting water when she asked for it and have it be enforced.

Let's be clear that I did not write the document in question. And, yes, I am surprised that simple palliative care would be refused to a dying person.

The American Bar Association has some good resources for drafting living wills, which can be accessed at the site maintained by their Commission on Legal Problems of the Elderly.
