no, when it comes to the tech stuff i leave it to the people on this thread who are clearly well informed. i'm one of those investors who tries to focus on a few important facts - like the market presence of word perfect and its installed base is a huge asset - and then listen to professionals. it's amazing how much real understanding of the business there is on si.

as to box-making, i accept that it's low margin, but i guess there has to be something in it to justify dell's performance. the assemblers command a higher p/e than the component makers, who, like apm and htch for instance get absolutely no respect.
