Makes sense. As William Engdahl says, the dollar is all-important to US financial imperialism, or rather the American idea of it, and thus any attempt to support it would be encouraged.

That's if it is perfect. As I read it, it's not as perfect as they would have liked and the US now finds itself "sucking the hind tit" while other nations are enriching themselves and becoming more powerful. So much so, it is quite conceivable that in the not too distant future they will be able to exist independently of dear, old Uncle Sam -- much to Uncle Sam's chagrin. Hence his belligerence.
