I was listening to a radio program last night and someone explained that families make similar decisions thousands of times a day. Unfortunately, in this case, the family has a difference of opinion.

But what Mr. DeLay seems to have missed is that all of the courts have heard both sides and have determined that it was her wish.

Mr. Nation felt that any Republicans voting to restore Medicaid funds should be deported or something.

I think it's more than tacky to cut Medicaid funding as an off-set to give the wealthy more tax cuts, but I'd be willing to sign a petition to deport Republicans. <s>

I was briefly watching a television news program yesterday and a Republican explained that there was no difference between him and Mrs. Shiavo. I thought to myself and then admired his truthfulness in agreeing that he was brain-dead.

I may have seen the same show. I agree. In fact, I was thinking of Strom Thurmond as a near perfect example.

On a very serious note, this very sad event should have been resolved many years ago by the family. A family typically faces the facts together and cries together and then lets the poor soul pass. It happens every day--many times--and each of us will probably face this same issue in our lives. I hope each of us never has to face this decision. However, if we do, I hope we can face it privately and decide as best we can without the interference of scheming politicians.

I absolutely agree with that.

"You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?"

Which makes me reluctant to fight the Republicans at their own game. I'd rather "lose" and maintain some dignity than join them at their own game. Besides, this current generation of indecency started with Lee Atwater. Republicans have had 25 years of honing their indecency. Catch up would be a nearly insurmountable challenge.
