The one hospital "chain" - Barnes Hospital - uses doctors from the Washington Univ Med School almost exclusively because they are a teaching hospital affiliated with the Med School. They provide up-to-date, leading-edge, care and will be excluded from the program in the future.

This is a serious downgrading of available care.

GM's trying to cut costs and will deprive others, like me and my family, because they have the numbers to ask for it. A smaller hospital group has already dropped United coverage.

My take is that this is a shot across the bow for other markets. This isn't small potatoes - around 900k people are enrolled in various UnitedHealthcare programs through their companies in the area.
