Mish, what you said is true but outsourcing R&D indeed is having the cake and eat it too approach<g>. Why? The multinational companies using cheap Chinese/Indian brain labor to invent staff whose patent (IP right) will be registered/held under the company's logo, and the company will be the sole beneficiary for the future profit. The potential profit from the future royalty might be dozens of times higher than the one-time low salary the company pays to the inventor himself.
