John, Can she eat without being fed? Can she eliminate waste without help? If she were forced to remain alive, what kind of a life would that be? Will there be any quality to that kind of life? Will she be able to enjoy anything in such a state?

There is more to living than just existing. I have seen people in nursing homes that are begging to die, but are kept living on machines because there is no one to make that decision. They are in anguish, and even fear of remaining alive in their present condition for years of agony.

We don't really know if she told her husband what he claims, or not, but since he is turning down significant monetary gain, it makes me wonder.

Me, and every body else, can only speak from their own perspective. As for me, if it comes time for me to need artificial tools, or measures, to keep me existing, I want to die.

What you posted to me, and what I responded with, is an example of the emotional upheaval such an event can cause.
