But for the Jews, Gypsies, gays, etc... it certainly was, and it was something unique in history. Yes, by the size of it for sure it was unique in history. As you pointed out by giving the Armenian example, however, genocides and ethnic cleansing was not new to humanity and only recently did we have a blatant case at Balkan.
