Well, I remember that during the 1992 presidential campaign, the Carville/Clinton response to GOP campaign rhetoric was very quick and mean spirited. Different than anything I'd seen before. That apparently escalated into the "tit for tat" political rhetoric we have now. On both sides. Now it's just a nit picking got ya routine. Teddy et. al. are a perfect example.
