Hi Glenn,
Re: He needs to take some lessons from Chris Matthews.
As spokesmen for progressive thought, I think Paul Krugman, Norman Soloman, David Brancaccio, Charles Lewis, Jon Stewart and/or Chalmers Johnson are vastly more effective that Matthews, who is one of my least favorite blowhards. Progressives have to be able to clearly articulate the issues, at which point the vicious bone-headedness of George Bush becomes perfectly obvious.
I've never understood Matthews' muddled politics. He's someone who I categorize with Carville and Begala. That is to say, he's a complete phony, a fraud and a dangerously unprincipled man.
Matthews strikes me as not being capable of decency. He's honed his craft into an ornery caricature of journalism.

When was this? I find this to be hard to believe. The ruse of little alan's timid meekness was set in stone the very first episode I ever gagged on. |
