Lets' say you want to buy 15 ounces (Tulving minimum)

150 shares GLD @ 43.06 = $6450.90 + $10 comm = $ 6460.90
finance.yahoo.com
15 ounces of goldmoney.com @ 442.53 = $ 6637.95 ($187>GLD)
goldmoney.com
15 ounces at Tulving @ 444.95 (free ship) = $ 6674.25 ($223>GLD)
tulving.com

goldmoney takes you 85% of the way to the bullion price,
so I would just spend another $36 and get the gold,
which is what you already said you want to do:
"I see the physical as a safer way to play the potential rise in gold"
Take you own advice, buy the real thing ! <grin>

> but I do not see a gloom and doom scenario where we all
need gold and silver to buy or trade for bread and milk.

To be blunt, in an extreme gloom and doom scenario,
(which some seem to hope for) "guns and ammo" will
get you more "bread and milk" than "gold and silver"

P.S. I try to put URL links in my posts so you don't have
to read as much of my opinion. More URLs, less BS !
Tastes great, less filling !
