"I'm angry at them because of what they've done to harm this great country and to place my children and potential grandchildren at greater risk. "

I understand your anger and it is justified given what you believe are the circumstnces of the iraq war. But from the point we are at now, your kids and grandkids may be served better by rice/biden/lugar/hillary than by kerry/dean. Thats all i am trying to say.

"Dean has said clearly and accurately that we never should have gotten involved but that after we did we must get out reasonably quickly and with the least amount of U.S. damage, leaving the Iraqis to solve their own (partially U.S. now-contributed to) problems. If that's still his position then I would agree. "

Now that hes wearing the DNC hat and has been catering to the extreme left of the democrat party for some time, his position as a reasonable opponent of the war has drifted to the ideological. I mentioned biden because he has mistakes on the other side by in a sense out bushing bush. But there are folks who either were either neocons or realists who are gravitating to a more sensible position than the cheneys or the dean-kerrys. Not all the folks who thought like Cheney still do and because they made a mistake does not automatically mean an extreme segment of the opposition is better able to solve the problem. Go back to vietnam where we agree more--would you have wanted folks on the extreme left to have made policy? Yes we needed reasonable voices like RFK and Gene McCarthy who argued for a negotiated settlement while LBJ/MacNamara fiddled. There are mods out there both parties. mike
