Nymex holds merger talks with Nybot By Jeremy Grant in Boca Raton Published: March 17 2005 02:00 \| Last updated: March 17 2005 02:00 The New York Mercantile Exchange is considering an initial public offering and is in talks with the New York Board of Trade about a possible merger that could involve the sale of shares in a combined exchange, executives said yesterday. The development is a sign that more US derivatives exchanges are hoping to mimic the successful sale of shares by the International Securities Exchange and Chicago Mercantile Exchange, respectively the largest US options and futures operators.
