Its a rolling disaster only because every Congress yahoo from podunk America insists on train service even when there are no passengers. That is a big part of the problem. In fact, service on Amtrak is excellent. The train people work hard to make the trip enjoyable. The trains have a reasonably good on time record. I'll have to take your word for it. But service can be excellent without efficancy being excellent. Sure some unreasonable routes are forced on Amtrack but they don't do as well as they should in the reasonable routes. Tim
