Yes and the vast majority of ANWR will still be pristine (or at least pretty much as pristine as it is now, I'm not sure any large area is 100% pristine anymore) if the drilling is give the ok.

Or is your object like that of Osama when he claimed that US forces in places like Riyadh and Dhahran and "King Khalid Military City", sullied Mecca and Medina many miles away.


Its like bin Laden's perception of Mecca. Some places are sacred and need to be treated accordingly.
