Ann sure hits the bull's eye again. (No sexist innuendo, that's what they call the dang thing!)

I think this problem could be solved by divesting the assumption that having a defendant unrestrained is necessary for him to get a fair trial. In other words, if ALL defendants are cuffed, then juries cannot infer that handcuffs mean the defendant is necessarily guilty.
