God invites us into a relationship with him. It is the experience of God that convinces us of God and builds our faith. It is a long process, not an overnight thing. When we first come to God we know He is there. But this knowledge pales in comparison to a mature faith that has gone through life with God, walking with Him on a daily basis.

No argument ever convinced us of the truth of God. It is God's spirit in us that convinces us of God. If we are to change the hearts of others we do it by our actions and by introducing them to Jesus Christ. From there it is 100% God as he takes the changed individual on the journey of faith, which is the patient endurance of a race well run.

If you cause others to thirst it is because you are salt. If others come out of the dark it is because you are the light. But if you examine the context of Jesus words, we are these things because of our walk. We are a city on a hill. All eyes are on us and people are discerning if this "Jesus stuff" is for real.

Writing stuff like this drives me nuts because it makes me question why I post on here at all. Not because there is anything wrong with the topic but because the harvest is ripe and I feel like I am simply killing time. I can only hope this post is edifying to some so that this time has been spent in a constructive way.
