As for me, I'd rather get a handle on the whole situation and throw open the doors to legal immigration. You can come here, but don't expect any special treatment just because of your ethnicity or poverty level.

I don't agree. Call me a "rightwing nut job". Too many poor foreigners speaking too many different foreign languages taxes American cities to the breaking point. Schools in cities as diverse as Seattle and LA have pupils speaking 60 different languages often with English as a second language. Its this kind of language diversity that taxes the teachers and results in marginally educated students who later create problems in the broader society.

There is too much poverty in the world in general. It prompts too many people to want to come here. I think we need to keep our present laws in place and enforce them better.
