The "Green Cross Earth Charter Philosophy" - a document from the Earth Council web site - makes the philosophy and goals of the proposed new treaty clear: "The protection of the Biosphere, as the Common Interest of Humanity, must not be subservient to the rules of state sovereignty, demands of the free market or individual rights."
Notice the common good above the individual. This is totalitarianism all the way.

This talk of materialism and common good are also coincidentally important planks of the New AGe movement. The UN is nothing short of some kind of rahash of Naziism, sold as some kind of kinder gentler version. Guess who the materialistic people were in the Nazi Party plank? Thats right, the Jews.
