No I'm not an astronomer. Just someone who is interested in astronomy, and esp. in issues like this one.

I would have to go to the book or back to the video for the reason that a life-giving star should be in a goldilocks distance from the galactic core. I think it had something to do with too much light or radiation at the core.

That makes some sense but even if you exclude the core you aren't limited to a goldilocks distance. I think earlier you mentioned something about position in the spiral arms, but the spiral arms aren't solid. The stars in the same arm don't rotate together. Over time they change position relative to the other stars.

I might pick up that book your talking about.
