It's very difficult for me to understand a fourth physical dimension, but I think you are right.

I recall an episode from Cosmos in which Carl Sagan explained it by first showing a two dimensional shadow of a three dimensional object, and then showing a three dimensional shadow of a fourth dimensional object.

I still don't get it. Do you?

By the way, Just Six Numbers or The Privileged Planet, I forget which, suggests the possibility of multiverses, in which other universes with different physical properties exist in parallel. The one we exist in is the only one with the values for natural laws like gravity and so forth are such that they permit life.
