Some of what you say about the demise of the single parent working is very true. I think the language issue has merit as well. But I know way too many families where both people work and manage to produce quality kids. Mine is one of them. It's not because we're rich....it's because we bust our asses to do the right thing for our child. <<If the goal is for minority children to finish school and attend college>> It's not about minority or non minority. It's about getting all kids to the best schools we can and having them finish. I don't care if the school is public or private. Headstart and other early educational programs are probably great. But the best headstart a kid can have is being born to good parents. Maybe instead of paying kids to graduate we should start a little earlier. Maybe we should look at people who want to reproduce and pay some of these people not to. The volume of trouble would go down in schools and the gene pool would be cleansed of the people who aren't qualified to have pets let alone children. Sounds harsh.....but once they procreate so does the cycle
