It takes a blatant act of aggression against the US to rally enough support to get Congress to vote on an act of war. Pearl Harbor and the WTC certainly got everyone's attention As both events should demonstrate, ignoring all the warning signs because they don't rise to the level of requiring a 'military response' can have very costly results. Do you really think that a quick smash of AQ in Afghanistan, then just leaving the Mideast to stew in its despotic/Islamist juice for another ten years, which was the general Democratic recomendation, would not have bred some more very costly 'attention grabbers'?
