If you work mainly in the ER then you don't necessarily know how a case works out in the ICU, or later in hospice or rehab.

Based on things you've said you would not want, for example, to live as Christopher Reeve lived, completely paralyzed from the neck down, dependent on a respirator. Yet, he wanted to live, and fought death with all his strength.

If so, I hope you don't get to make the choice for people like Chris Reeve. Because his choice was different than your choice, and it was his life.

Keeping people alive until they get to say goodbye, or the family gets to say goodbye, is a mitzvah, in my opinion.
