You either did not know, or did not realize that the US stood up against Stalin and the expansionist, imperialistic plans of the USSR, and was able to keep much of Europe out of the corrupt, incompetent brutal control of the USSR. Because of America's cold-war victory over the Soviet Union, most of Europe is free right now. Sadly the Soviet Union sucked the life's blood out of any nation that it conquered, and most of Eastern Europe has to recover from the disaster caused by the USSR. You must have slept a lot during history class.
