I don't think this can be blamed on the religious right. There some great points on both sides of this issue! Is food and water heroic medicine? I think not.

If it's heroic medicine then we shouldn't be talking about food for poor children...after all...death by starvation is painless, right? ( I don't really mean that but point made )

At this point nobody can prove she wouldn't want to live here so we can't take either sides word.

I guess there are some questions about the husband although the timing is odd after 15 years!

The parents seem willing to float the boat on medical costs

There are just a ton of messy questions here on all sides - legal, ethical and religious. But to heap this all onto the religious right isn't fair.

As far as death by starvation not being painful...well....I guess I'll have to leave that up to the experts. Since I don't know anyone thats starved to death and lived to tell about it I'm not sure there are any.

Death by sticking medicated electrical rod through your ears may not be painful either but since the result is death we don't get much of a chance to say "so...did it hurt?"
