Re. the school being a prison, having metal detectors - whats abnormal there?

This is a school in a very isolated, small, country town in Nebraska. Out in the boonies. It is probably the only country one in the state that is set up like this. This is a waaaay out of the ordinary for a school like this. Obviously the community has major problems for it to have a metal detector and a guard. They have had MANY problems before. You don't set up the school like this for one or two isolated incidents.
