If a company had reported 2004 earnings, then it
would just be the total of the 4 quarters of 2004
vs. the total of the 4 quarters of 2003.

For a company that has last reported Q3-2004 it would be:

T12 = Q3-04 + Q2-04 + Q1-04 + Q4-03 (last four reported)
P12 = Q3-03 + Q2-03 + Q1-03 + Q4-02
(coresponding periods 12 months earlier)

BTW, my table is starting to look like something,
what I am not sure, ideas always welcome
