Perhaps they were, but that was a much more noble cause than trying to control another country's resources. Kind of like fighting the war to end slavery in this country, a horrible way to bring about a desirable result. Which is why empowering the people via democracy is a much better way for mankind to sort through our affairs. The civil rights movement a century later was far less bloody than the civil war.

Look, I don't want to beat up on the U.S. But, many Americans have a hard time accepting our own deadly foreign policy. I don't try to hide from these facts, as unpleasant as they might be. The facts are the facts, if people are blissfully unaware of them or just chose to ignore them.

What do I do about this sorry state of affairs? I agitate for alternative energy. I think if we could end this insane scamble for oil, the world we be a far safer, far less bloody and far more just place. We're not all that far off really from having the technology to kick the oil habit. Technological developments in alt.energy are progressing rapidly this decade. In actuality usuing a combination of currently available alt.energy technology we could easily kick our oil habit in coming years. Fight the powers! Fight the oil strangehold over our world.
