It took two DUI's to convince me to quit drinking. I was a menace on the road. I think our first priority should be to get drunks off the road. But I agree with this writer that the limit has been set too low.

In Illinois one drink can get you a driving under the influence which is milder than the .08 drunken driving. I have noticed the limit has been ratcheted down by half over the years.

What gets me is if they really wanted to do something about drunk drivers they'd set the check points close to country clubs and Ducks Unlimited Dinners.

I remember after a DU dinner I saw a judge in the parking lot trying to push his car home as he couldn't start it. 20 degrees, snow on the ground and 38 blocks from home. He was too drunk to call a taxi so I gave him a ride. He gives the max to any DUI in his court.
