The point is there, whether you wish to acknowledge it or not. The proliferation of guns is as deadly (in fact, statistically more deadly) than the proliferation of nuclear weapons. As with nuclear weapons, we only want the 'right' people to have them.

Making an argument for no meaningful regulation of guns is the same as making an argument for no meaningful regulation of nuclear arms.

In a perfect world, only the 'good guys' have the guns, and only the 'good nations' have the nukes. The world is not perfect, but to throw up our hands and have no meaningful regulation is the same as giving up on limiting nuclear proliferation.

Sure, the potential destructive power of a nuclear bomb is much greater than a gun (even one wielded by Ahhhhnold), but the fact is that guns are the ones being used in the crimes and killings. Both should be properly tracked and regulated.

The fact that the kid was the grandson of a law enforcement officer shows that there are no 'safe' guns. All must be carefully regulated and kept away from children and criminals.

Which is directly the opposite of what the NRA wants. Makes you wonder about THEIR motivation...
