I agree with you. We stayed in Germany and Japan a hell of a lot longer than 2 years and both of those populations were willing participants in their own reconstruction and Democritization.

There is no comparison. Both countries had suffered catastrophic bombing by the allies. Its people were devastated. They had suffered huge population losses. Iraq is a cakewalk by comparison.

Iraq is a much tougher country to fix and all the liberals on this thread are complaining that it's taken 2 years so far. I think we are a nation of people with the patience level of infants.

I think we are nation of idiots who think Iraq can be turned into a model for democracy period. The right is just stalling for time. Accept the inevitable.........we will pull out way before Iraq is done. We can't afford it!
