"I am often a contraian investor but I find myself agreeing with the herd for the moment, but the bull market will not last as long as they are expecting. Now here is a contrarian thought for you: What does it mean when a person known for his short picks covers most of his shorts? "

It means short everything. The Bull market will end when everyone is a Bull.

There are any number of screaming shorts out there now. Very few good buys. Some issues are so overvalued (look at YHOO) that any rational person would be looking for the bottom. So many people are looking for short term profits.

I personally have never seen a period where seemingly everyone believed that the market was going up-up-up. There have always been some voices saying watch out. Even Abe Abelson has shut up.
