There is no comparison. Both countries had suffered catastrophic bombing by the allies. Its people were devastated. They had suffered huge population losses. Iraq is a cakewalk by comparison.

Iraq is obviously no cakewalk. If it were, we would have left by now. Iraq will take just as long as Germany and Japan, or longer. We're at year 2 right now. Expect this year and the next to be part of the equation. I'd like to see us draw down toops by 2006 and that is looking more and more possible now that Iraqi troops are having some successes, but it would be foolish for anyone to think Iraq will be fixed faster than Germany or Japan was.
