I'm sort of ambivalent and uncertain about this case. You hear different facts from different people so its hard to know exactly what is true about this situation.

Also whatever is true its a tough situation. If she was really brain dead I would be ok with shutting down life support, but she isn't brain dead and she isn't on a respirator. OTOH it appears at this point that she is never going to recover. I guess an important question is recover from what. What is her current state. Those that want the feeding tube to be in say that she has some ability to respond to her environment. Those that don't want a feeding tube for her say that she is a vegetable and that her brain is turning to liquid. I'm not a neurologist and even if I was I didn't examine her.

I don't think that this really should have become a congressional issue, but OTOH I find it funny that now all the sudden liberals are making a big argument about constitutional limits on congress, as if they really did want congress and the federal government in general to be strictly limited to its constitutionally granted powers.

I do think the parents are honestly concerned about what is best for Terry in their opinion. Terry's husband might also be primarily focused on what is best for Terry in his opinion, but I'm not 100% sure, he might be focused on what is best for his new family. Beyond the new family there are people who make all sorts of claims about how he caused her condition or how after she had her brain damage he supposedly made it worse by injecting her with insulin, but these charges are seriously unsubstantiated, and I don't really have any good reason to think they are true, so I can't really count them as factors and I won't even continue to mention them without new evidence.
