We had a Siamese cat that we took everywhere for years - travelled all over the country with her. She always went camping with us and would never go more than 50 yards away and then would come back to the camper, tent or car to hang out. As she got older, she'd wander less. One time (she was almost 20) she went out and didn't come back. She also made it a point to not let us know that she left (unusual). We spent the next few days looking for her around the campground, but no luck. She didn't want to be found.
