Looking at recent quarterly numbers, ADSK looks like it has stopped growing. One look at the numbers in the ADSK profile at this web site seems to show this. I personally wouldn't buy ADSK based on the posted numbers,(but I'm tempted), for sure, not before the next quarters results are released.

Microstation seems to have attracted most of the major Petro-Chemical engineering firms to their product by having third party "3D modeling" vendors tightly integrating with Microstation. The perception in the "Petro-Chem" business seems to be that Microstation is a superior product with higher productivity gains.

I believe Autocad is thought of as a "toy" compared to Microstation. Again, just a perception, but Autocad is used by smaller firms and equipment vendors, the real thing, "Microstation" is used by serious Engineering and Construction Firms. This is just in the heavy industrial design field. Anyone have any perceptions from other industries ?

I have used both packages and prefer Microstation.
