<. The consumer matters the most. The governement cannot control the bond market overall.>

Have we so quickly forgotten the Burnake speech where they talked about doing 'whatever it takes' to stave off a downturn??? Wasn't there even talk about the Feds legal ability to buy corperate bonds... Does anyone think the fed {and government} will stand around while unemployment skyrockets and forclosures, and stocks & corporate bonds, muni's, etc get clobered?? IMO they'll buy empty skyscrapers in downtown Houston if that is what it takes to get cash out there. Certainly they would have no problem {IMO} in buying equities like every other country has done.

Of course, the question has been and continues to be {IMO}, where is gold trading BEFORE this begins... ie. how long do they wait to panic.
