One immediate effect of this....if you were going to build an app for a smart USB drive, would you use U3 (Sandisk/M-Systems) or Lexar's initiative, which might not be around in a year?

slacker...an excellent point. As innovation continues to roar around flash applications, why would any designer risk the Lexar solution? Even if they even get something out of the Toshiba award years from now, what will it mean to them? The world is passing them by and the technologies in dispute there are "old news". Micro SD is just the latest example of the next wave....

If the Lexar cc comments about strong flash demand in Q1 are correct, and no reason to think they are not...and retail prices didn't drop the 15% SNDK had estimated in their last cc, and SNDK continues cut production costs, should be a pretty good quarterely report coming up.
