I get the impression my parents don't love me one whit less this afternoon than they did 40 years ago.

Same with mine. I just had the impression that "family values" was code for the special intimate, sexual, and committed relationship between a married couple, the sacrosanct cornerstone of society, fostering their purpose of producing children. But I'm looking at "family values" as an outsider so I could be mistaken.
