What on earth do you mean when you say the "authorities" put the feeding tube in--that she didn't show up that way? I suppose it is true that when Terri Schiavo was in cardiac arrest and first was taken to the hospital after her horrible accident (caused by her eating disorder), she didn't have a feeding tube in. At that time no full assessment had been made of her brain injury. Are you suggesting that everyone should have let her die then, fifteen years ago, or what? It is hard to have a dialogue with you when you are jumping all over the place.

How many people in their twenties have bothered to get written instructions signed on what to do in these situations? Not very many, really. She was Catholic but not devout, a very young woman. In the court testimony several people testified that she had made statements about not wanting to live with tubes, however. Why would you suppose that it is more likely that she would like to be a living vegetable for several decades? Most young people do not think like this. Why do you assume that her parents are acting in her best interests, rather than being delusional and extremely selfish at this point?
