If he were sincerely interested in an anti-war stance he would have been regularly featuring anti-war activists like Scott Ritter, Howard Zinn, Gore Vidal, Noam Chomsky, Brian Becker, Sen. Robert Byrd, Rep. Dennis Kucinich Norman Soloman, Charles Lewis, Chuck Spinney, Medea Benjamin and many other legitimate voices of dissent.
I don't think that MSNBC hired Matthews to host an ideologically pristine show. If Matthews wanted to host such a show, he should probably be knocking on Al Gore's door.
Over the last two years, Matthews has interviewed people - to the extent that he actually conducts interviews - on both sides of the Iraq issue. In equal measures. There have been repeated appearances by Scott Ritter, Howard Zinn and Dennis Kucinich. I think that he actually devoted a full hour to Kucinish when he was running his campaign for personal redemption.
I finally had to stop watching Hardball because of the nightly appearances by the simpering, self-promoting Ron Reagan. |
