I don't think you have anything to worry about. In reality this isn't any different than the thousands of other protests that have taken place in out nation's history. The individuals involved are just as passionate and vocal, and it is their right to be so. Interesting that there aren't counter protesters........I can understand why. But you bring up something that elicits a comparison. Roe v Wade. Wasn't that a bit of "ad-hocery?" If not, how does it differ?

When they watch a bunch of alleged conservatives raking over our institutions, they struggle to come up with an explanation, any explanation.

I have certainly seen this work both ways. I strongly object to the stereotyping and name calling.
