For some reason you put me in mind of Meg Ryan. Usually I like her movies, but two years ago she had one called "In The Cut" that I absolutely hated.

I have not seen "In The Cut," but I did catch her most recent film, "Against the Ropes." It was not very good. Drama has never been a strong point for Ms. Ryan. Part of the problem is that it has been hard as a viewer to disassociate whatever character she is playing from the characters she portrayed in her romantic comedies such as When Harry Met Sally, You Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle. In my book, which I realize is not the definitive "book," those three movies are classics.

I read an interview with her about a year ago, and she was complaining that she has not been offered many attractive roles as of late. She said that her age was working against her. Too bad. With all the baby boomers out there, one would think that there would be more a a market for romantic comedies featuring middle aged protagonists. Personally, I find a Meg Ryan or a Meryl Streep much more stimulating than a Jessica Simpson or Lindsay Lohan.
